Every Guardian mulch plastic can be designed with the following characteristics:
Dimensions: Guardian mulch plastic is produced in different thicknesses, widths and lengths which may vary according to every crop and customer need.
The commonly used dimensions are mulches between 1m to 2m (3 ft. to 7 ft.) wide, the length is requested by the client and the thickness oscillates between 18µ and 38µ (0.7 mils and 1.5 mils).
Perforations, pre cuts, and puncture marks: Guardian mulch plastics can be fabricated with perforations and pre cuts of a 2cm to 8cm (¾” to 3”) diameter in different schemes or designs adequately to the crop.
Perforations, pre cuts, and puncture marks reduce damage to belts and drip hoses caused by the traditional plastic perforating methods, reduce labor cost in the marking and perforating process previously to sow or transplant, and help guarantee population density in the crop area.
Other special characteristics:
Every Guardian mulchplastic has UV stabilization packages that guarantee life spans of 10 to 24 months in extreme radiation and temperature conditions, and insecticide applications.
Furthermore, according the requirements of the crop and theclimate conditions, they can be produced in different colors and embossed:
-
Transparent mulch plastic
-
Black mulch plastic
-
Silver/black mulch plastic
-
Black/white mulch plastic
-
Photoselective green mulch plastic
-
Red mulch plastic
GuardianTransparent mulch plastic for Solarization
A transparent film especially designed to use solar heat energy in the process of soil disinfection, reduce population of certain kinds of fungus, bacteria, nematodes or roundworms, mites, insect larvae and eggs, weed seeds, etc.
This plastic can be utilized alongside any fumigant to maximize the effect of solarization.
Guardian Black mulch plastic
Its main advantage is the absorption of heat from solar radiation. The heat is transmitted to the soil, thus rising its temperature. It also improves root development when used in cold weather.
Guardian Silver/black mulch plastic
Nowadays, this mulch plastic is the most commonly used for most crops and climates. It has the ability to reflect 20% to 30% of the light, producing a repellent effect to certain species of insects.
Energy transmittance to the soil is lower than the one of black mulch plastic, therefore avoids excessive heating of the soil in warm weather.
Guardian White/Black mulch plastic
These films have the ability to reflect 40% to 60% of the light; this allows reducing soil temperature in warm weather, even more than the silver/black mulch plastic.Similarly to the silver/black plastic, white/black plastic can produce repellence to certain kinds of insects.
Guardian Green and Red plastic mulch
In addition to the traditional colors, Guardian mulchplasticshave a variety of colors that are relatively new in the plasticulture industry, such as the photoselective green and the red, these have special pigments which allow reflecting certain wavelengths of light and modifying the energy transmittance to soils and crops.
