Olefinas’ Plastic Mulch helps maximize the use of such resources as biocides, fertilizers, nutrients, water and heat. It also contributes to the control of weeds and the development of seeds and plants. We manufacture a variety of these Agrocontrol materials to meet the specific needs of your crops and local weather conditions. They come in three-layer sheets with thicknesses starting at 0.75 thousandths of an inch, widths of 40" to 60" and lengths according to your needs. The mulches are produced in one or two colors for soil temperature control; with or without barriers to prevent biocide leakage; and with stabilization packages that ensure a lifespan of more than 10 months in extreme conditions of radiation, temperatures and pesticide applications. The natural or transparent color for solarization is also produced in thicknesses beginning at 1.3 thousandths of an inch and with a lifespan of three months for solarization and two harvests. Other Benefits
- Increases performance and improves quality of crops
- Prevents direct contact of the fruit with the soil
- Advances harvest during cold months (greenhouse effect)
- Conserves water by reducing evaporation
- Promotes more efficient use of fertilizers
- Reduces the incidence of injury and insect diseases (the reflection of light of certain films drives insects away)
- Prevents the growth of weeds when black, black/white or silver/black padding is used
Agrocontrol Varieties The range of colors of our films have played a fundamental role in the development of new technologies. Following is a brief guide on these colors and their benefits: | Increases heat to the root | X | | | | | Controls Weeds | | X | X | X | X | | Reduces heat to the root | | X | | X | X | | Draws aphids away | | | X | X | X | | Illuminates fertilization | | | X | X | X | | Solarization | X | | | | | | Micro-tunnel | X | | | | | Agrocontrol for Solarization - Transparent During the day, this transparent film transmits more than 80% of the sun’s rays, which stimulates a remarkable amount of heat in the soil it covers. Then, during the night, it allows heat radiation to pass from the soil toward the leaves of crops, protecting the plants from low temperatures. These plastics are recommended for use on crops in cold zones and for disinfecting soils during the hottest months (solarization); they also help accelerate crops. Black Agrocontrol This product absorbs significant amounts of heat and transmits it by conduction to the soil and atmosphere. It is widely recommended for controlling weeds and gaining higher performance and acceleration of crops. White Agrocontrol White is the coolest of our mulches, but allows some weed growth. Silver Agrocontrol The silver plastic mulch reflects UV light on the plant, driving insects away. The transmittal of heat toward the soil is less than with our black mulch; recommended for mild months. Black/White Agrocontrol Recommended for use during the hottest months, as it can keep soils cool. In addition, it offers excellent reflection of photosynthetic light on the white side and blocks light transfer on the black side, thus preventing the development of weeds under the plastic. Silver/Black Agrocontrol This film has great photo-luminous reflection toward the plant leaves, increases the process of photosynthesis and drives insects away. The transmittal of light toward the soil is minimal; however, it prevents excessive heating of the soil and the development of weeds under the film. This padding absorbs a great amount of the sun’s energy, so it is not recommended during the hottest months, since it can trigger burns in the aerial part of young crops. It produces great acceleration, performance and quality of crops. Solarization, Another Implementation of Agrocontrol Solarization is a technique that controls pathogens and weeds in soils. It is a hydrothermal process and its success depends mainly on four elements: - Good tillage of land
- Transparent plastic films
- Solar energy
- Water
Factors That can Affect the Lifespan of Agrocontrol - Outdoor storage
- Immproper application of the material/equipment
- Application of chemical products
